RJF ~ Author Interview ~ Jesseca Wheaton

Today we have the first (of several) author interview for the month! I so excited to welcome Jesseca Wheaton to my blog! I did an interview with her on my Google+ page not that long ago, you can read it here.

But now, for this interview!

~

For starters, how long have you been writing?
I've been writing as long as I can remember, but writing seriously since I was fourteen. So about four years! :)

Is there a certain book of yours--published or not yet out for the public--that holds a special place in your heart?
Well, A Question of Honor is special to me just because of all the research and time I've put into it. It's a long way away from publication, but it's definitely special to me!
Also, The Silent Blade is special because it's the first book I really let others read. People I didn't even know had a part in the beta-reading, so that was nerve-wracking and special at the same time! And of course, they were all amazing! :)

Are there any authors that when you read their books it makes you want to write like them?

Umm, Sarah Sundin, though I never expect to quite have any of my books be that good! ;) Also Tricia Mingerink. Her books are just . . . wow.

Where is the place where you get your biggest inspiration for writing? In a field, bedroom, Pinterest, etc.?
The outdoors are always amazing! So many ideas to be found! However, I tend to write the most in my bedroom on my bed with music playing, where I can get some relativity quiet time. Then, yes, I tend to scroll through all the boards I have on Pinterest for inspiration. ;) Also, soundtracks!!! Movie soundtracks, as well as certain songs that have a special place in my book inspire me probably more than anything. :)

Tell us a little bit about how you write. No words added all week, then suddenly you add several thousand, constantly writing and can’t stop, etc. How is it for you?
When I'm in the middle of a project . . . it depends. ;) At any given time I'm in the middle of a project, I try to write a page and a half each day, which ends up being around 1,000-1,500 or so. Some days it's less and I only get around 500 written, but normally I aim for the 1,000 words mark. :)
Of course, if I'm writing during NaNo in November, the deadline is to get 50,000 words written in a month. So I try to get between 2,000 and 3,000 written each day, because I know there will be a few days I won't be able to write as much!

Are you a morning person or a night owl? And does that affect what time of day you write?
Night owl all the way! At night, when the house is quiet and dark, I can get ten times as much done than if I try and get up around 6am or so. (Normally we all get up around 7am). Part of this might be because I have siblings who get up super early, so it's never really quiet in the mornings.

Bonus Question: You are about to publish your second book, what is the excitement level at your house?
The excitement is very high, as is the stress of fixing all the little last-minute things! In many ways I consider The Silent Blade my first "real" published book, because not only will it be available on Amazon, kindle, etc., I feel that the writing, overall plot, and character development is much better than it was in Dark Storm Rising. The Silent Blade has also the advantage of having had several beta-readers and many more edits then Dark Storm Rising ever had! :) So yeah. The thought of releasing a book out into the world, where ANYONE can access it is pretty intimidating. Kinda a nervous-excited-anxious-ecstatic sort of feeling. ;)
