RJF ~ The Inheritance

Today I'm bringing an old classic to the floor. ;)

The Inheritance

About the Book:

Influenced by the melodrama of the contemporary theater and the popular gothic novels of the time, Louisa May Alcott weaves a tale far removed from the reality of her everyday life in Boston. With a charm reminiscent of Jane Austen's novels, "The Inheritance" sets love and courtesy against depravity and dishonor--and with the help of a secret inheritance, allows virtue to prevail.

  2. Lousia May Alcott!!! She's one of my favourite authoresses! :D I'm not sure if I've read The Inheritance before....I've read multiple books by Louisa May Alcott like Little Women, Little Men, Jo's Boys, Jack and Jill, Eight Cousins, Rose in Bloom, Behind a Mask, An Old-Fashioned Girl, and others ;) Like I said before, she's a favourite of mine :)
What's the plot/summary for The Inheritance? Maybe it'll jog my memory ;)

    1. Wow! You've read a ton of her books!! :)

It's about a girl, Edith, who is a companion to this wealthy girl, Amy. The whole family loves her even though she is basically a servant. The family tries to bring her up in solicit, but she doesn't want the big life.

That just a little bit of what's it's about. I don't want to ruin the book for anyone. ;)

  3. This was actually the first book she wrote...she was sixteen or seventeen, I think :) I've always found it a really sweet story, even if some of it is rather cliche.
